Erica Mahinay

Erica Mahinay’s work obsesses over surface, beauty, and desire. Traces of constant remaking and reinventing become the paths through which she investigates correspondences between physical and spiritual transcendence. Through a constant negotiation between physical evidence and visual illusion, Erica’s paintings and sculptures update traditional arrangements through abstraction, highlighting the thinness of surface, the tenuousness of illusion, and a contemporary spiritual condition in which identifying and restlessly redefining the self becomes essential.
